Is spring here yet?

Oops! I missed a week, but I'm back. We haven't had a very eventful 2 weeks but it has bee very cold, wet, and snowy. The weather has left me wondering when spring will be here to stay.

We did have parent teacher interviews. Noah's went very well he showed me he could do everything he was supposed to do except one thing, Rhyming. Noah has problems identifying and creating rhymes, so he needs lots of practice.
I did not attend an interview for Mikayla as I just talked to her teacher not long ago. She is reading at a gr.5 level and is top of her class in math. No problems for Mikayla.
For Lana I did an interview over the phone. She is the top student in her class and helps the other students when she finishes her own work.

This week, today in fact, we had the Rotary Music Festival. Both Mikayla and Lana performed songs with their music classes. They did very well. Mikayla's Gr.3 class also did a couple of recitations of poems they learned. She was quite nervous but did well.

Last week we had a bit of an family(extended) situation that I won't expand on, but the kids are dealing well the repercussions that affect us.

I have been trying new recipes for dinners and have been fairly successful. Also our new schedule fro chores seems to be working, which means less work for me as the kids are actually helping. Andrew's favorite chore is vacuuming and although he is only scheduled to vacuum once a week he will take any opportunity to do it.

Ben is very lonely at work as his boss goes to Indiana frequently, but he keeps on working both at work and at home on our own vehicles.

Well that's it for this week.

FHE & a New Week

Surprise, surprise, I am still here. So it's a new week and there's not a whole lot to tell.
During the week it's school/work, homework, chores and hopefully a little fun in there too. This week we had problems with Ben's Jeep, so it's back at the dealer getting fixed. We hope to hear how long it will be soon. Also we had problems getting the girls to clean their room, but they finally did it after 24 hours of arguing.

This weekend we did a bit of splurging as we got our income tax refund. Ben bought me a
Keurig mini brewer and hot cocoa k-cups. It is wonderful in the morning. We also bought several movies.

Tonight we had Family Home Evening. We had a lesson about obedience from Noah, Mikayla did Scripture, and Lana & Andrew did a combined activity/treat of scripture cookies. First the kids had to complete the recipe then we made the cookies, baked them and ate them. They were yummy! of course we switched the last ingredient from raisins to chocolate chips as Lana doesn't like raisins.

This week I look forward to extra kids Tuesday as I'm babysitting, but I get 2 evenings without kids as I have Relief Society on Wednesday and parent council on Thursday.

Well that's all for this week.

Try, Try Again

It is 2014 now, I have 2 children in school all day, one in half day kindergarten and one at home. So I am going to try this again. I am planning to post once a week, we'll see how it goes.
This week in FHE we talked about family unity and for our activity we started an experiment. We started making rock candy! The kids are very excited to watch it grow.
It is still very cold and snowy but the sun has started shining again. Thankfully.

Mikayla is doing very well in school and enjoys being creative at home. She is also working on her Faith in God award goals and has started learning to cook with Mom. She is currently being treated by a pediatrician for bowel problems but it has been getting better and she is learning about good nutrition.

Lana is really enjoying school and helps the other students. She is looking forward to her 8th birthday this summer and her baptism.

Noah is in kindergarten and has not decided if he likes it or not. He is usually very good at helping around the house and getting along with his siblings. He just turned 6 last month in February.

Andrew stays at home with Mom and loves to play superheroes with his brother or anyone who is willing. He is a very picky eater and right now tells me his tummy wants... toys, food, etc.

Ben is still working at Cooper's and he curses the cold, snowy weather as most days find him outside for at least part of it. He is still a car enthusiast and currently is enthused by Ford Crown Victoria police interceptors, so we have 2.

I am still a stay at home mom, and I volunteer at the elementary school when I can. I bake all the time for our family, and like to try new recipes. Currently I am trying to be crafty, we'll see if it works.

Anyway, time to go for now. Hope to be back in a week.
